One of my "lazy" dishes for busy days. I am cooking it in different variations depending on the contents of the fridge. Original recipe calls for mushrooms. Ooops, had non of those! But here is the original recipe.
Lots of snow here today and I wanted something warm and comforting so I came up with this. It was fantastic. It doesn't taste like a traditional chili but it was creamy and had a bit of a kick. Perfect for a cold snowy night.
My roommate's parents gave us a three-quart rice-cooker/slow-cooker/steamer (!) for Christmas and I'm just trying out the first recipe on its slow-cooker setting, a modification of this beef stew recipe. Except I've never actually owed a slow-cooker before, and I'm particularly apprehensive about not following recipes exactly! The ingredient

I just realized that the ribs I thought i put in the slow cooker around 9am....haven't been cooking. The slow cooker wasn't plugged in. They've been sitting in a room-temperature slow cooker for 6 hours. I just turned the cooker on high in hopes that they might be done in three hours? Are these going to be safe to eat?
